Jo Malone – Myrrh & Tonka

I am really coming around to everything that Jo Malone creates. I am already a big fan of their candles but never really invested in their scent collections.

So this year for Eid my sweet Brother in law gifted me this limited edition Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka scent from their unisex collection.

Both the box and bottle are designed by Wissam Shawkat an Arab calligrapher turned artist. As beautiful as the packaging is, the actual cologne is amazing as well.

This is a autumn/ winter sent with warm notes of amber, vanilla and lavender. I feel this scent changes overtime, when you first put it on its very intense almost a clash of scents. However, it starts developing to a more subtle and yet intense notes.

I have found this scent to be very similar to Oud’s which are my favourite. For those who don’t know what Oud is this is a scent that comes from the wood of the Southeast Asian agar (aquilaria) tree. When this wood becomes infected with a particular type of mold, the tree reacts by producing a dark, scented resin, which is often called “liquid gold.” aka Oud. Oud based candles, cologne etc are predominately popular in the Middle East and south Asia.

Now even though this particular bottle and box are limited edition, this scent is still available on Jo Malone website.

What do you guys think of Jo Malone perfumes?
