Yorks Cafe – Ikon Gallery

Recently I have to come to realistion that weekends are so precious, specifically if you have a jam packed week. One of the biggest reasons mon mari and I left London was that we were not really seeing much of each other due to work commitments.

Now we have a solid routine on weekends – Saturday’s are for cooking, cleaning, genreal household errands and spending time with family and friends. Sundays are for Yoga (the perfect way to kick off the week) brunch at any new find and self care.

Talking about Brunch we recently swayed from our regular place in Solihull to go to York’s Cafe at the Ikon Gallery near Brindley place, Birmingham. We were invited to have brunch and take advantage of the amazing coffee menu.

Now I tend to stay away from city centre on the weeknds as its crazy busy and parking is difficult.

However, this was a great opportunity for us to try something new.

We arrived at the cafe with a huge appetite and went straight inside to order food and coffee.

There is both outdoor and indoor seating, the decor is very laid back with exposed brickwork and wooden furniture.

Now the best part, we ordered latte’s from the wellness menu – Beetroot and Rose / Tumeric, Cinnamon and ginger. Warm and a healthy alternative to our usual coffee.

For food we ordered Shakshuka that came with warm flattered. This was a little spicy and had a great combination of flavours.

Avocado Toast with crumbled feta and hints of lemon and chilli.

These were all so yummy and perfectly complimented with the latte’s.

We also ordered two sides of french fries, after all it was the weekend.

We enjoyed everything we ordered and loved the atmosphere, service and above all the food.

This place is now on our top 5 places to go to for bunch in the Midlands. A perfect place for families as well as friends to come together.

Do you have any favourite places to go to for brunch?

XOXO
